Hannah Dutcher
Marketing and Student Engagement Coordinator
At the core of my role as Marketing and Student Engagement Coordinator at Morningside University under University Engagement, I worked with a dynamic team to manage the official social media pages for Morningside. I later was promoted to include Student Engagement Coordinator, in which I helped lead small activities initiatives around campus. Check out some of my work!

Social Media
My core role at the University was managing and improving all social media channels for the university including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and X. This includes all of the following basic responsibilities:
1. Keeping up to date and communicating across campus for relevant events that need social media features
2. Crafting copy for each respective post and doing the physical posting
3. Posting natively on each platform and furthering conversations to implement tools such as Sprout Social or HootSuite to optimize performance and analyze data analytics
4. Partner with our dynamic team that reaches alumni, current students, local media, career services, and sports to embody Morningside as a whole
5. Partner with Admissions and Advancement for main initiatives such as visit days, partner with and help curate Siouxland Proud Mside Bound, an initiative that provided full-tuition scholarships to students from surrounding counties, Mside Madness, the university's 36-hour giving initiative, and more.
6. Keeping up to date on trends and target audience attitudes and needs, along competition performance.
7. Assisting in digital advertising
Videography
Despite not having an official video background, I quickly became the university's campus videographer after starting due to campus need! Almost all reels featured on the Morningside Instagram is my work!

This meant leading video as a priority from TikToks and Instagram Reels, to filming important events, gather b-roll of classrooms, athletics, music, etc. and creating video ads for the university initiatives. Oh, and of course, EDITING! I also quickly became familiar with using camera equipment, microphones, tripods, and gimbals (and giant Santas.....)

That also means showing up to events, conducting the interviews, crafting the scripts, and watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to do things right.

Interns
One of my favorite parts of my job was managing our team of 10 interns. I learned to delegate, organize, push, counsel, and hopefully inspire. The interns accomplished so many amazing things but here are some highlights:

1. Successfully revived the iconic series Professors in Golf Carts, a campus favorite that got lost after COVID. The interns communicated to professors, conducted the interviews (including simultaneously driving a golf cart), edited, and promoted the series entirely on their own.
2. Successfully started a Student Voices blog, in which students can write about their favorite or interested topics
3. Revamped the instagram highlight bubbles, created countless event graphics, flyers, and essential marketing materials, took photos at events, created t-shirts, logos, and more
4. Significantly increased engagement on our TikTok and filmed, edited, and executed those videos
5. Successfully created the 2nd annual Mside Mania, a video series where students are able to vote on their favorite campus categories (all scripted, shot, and posted by interns).
6. Gave me endless purpose, smiles, laughs, and inspiration.
Graphic Design
With the multitude of events that were hosted on a daily basis, I often created day-of graphics utilizing Adobe Creative Suite and Canva!
Student Engagement
About 6 months into my start date, a need for a Student Engagement Coordinator arose. In that role, I sat on two committee's to further retention and activities initiatives, along with manage an activities intern to execute student-facing programming
Orientation, Alumni Events, and more
In the Krone Center, it is all hands on deck, where every team member comes to the plate to bat for one another. Whether it was executing Orientation together, alumni events, career services initiatives, managing the peer mentors, working on and improving the website, I was able to step my feet in everything higher education!
